Getting to Belize From Europe
Due to Belize’s location in Central America, there are no non-stop flights to the country from Europe. The good news, however, is that it is now easier than ever for people in Europe to enjoy an unforgettable vacation in Belize.
Directly from London, England
As a former British colony, Belize has always been a popular destination for Britons. American Airlines now offers direct flights to Belize that depart from London’s Heathrow Airport and make a stop in Miami, Florida before continuing on to Belize. Flights to Belize depart four times per week from Heathrow and have only a short layover in Miami before continuing directly to Belize City.
Via Mexico
Other options to get to Belize from Europe involve flying to the neighboring country of Mexico. Multiple airlines across Europe (including British Airways, Lufthansa, and Virgin Atlantic) offer non-stop flights to top destinations in Mexico, including Mexico City, Cancun, Merida, and Playa del Carmen.
Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and other popular locations on the Yucatan Peninsula have either bus and/or short-haul non-stop flights to Belize, making it easy to enjoy a combined vacation to both countries.
Via Guatemala
Currently, Iberia Airlines offers non-stop flights from Madrid to Guatemala City, and there are multiple overland and short-haul flights from there to Belize. Many travelers like to include both Guatemala and Belize on their itinerary, visiting locations in Guatemala such as Flores and Peten before crossing the land border into Belize.
Via the United States
The majority of flights into Belize are coming from major cities in the United States. Cities on the East Coast of America such as Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami offer multiple options for non-stop flights into Belize. All four of America’s biggest airlines now fly non-stop to Belize.
Via Canada
Visitors coming from Europe who do not wish to enter the United States can now transit directly to Belize via Toronto. Both Air Canada and WestJet now offer non-stop flights from Toronto to Belize City.
Via Central America
There are also non-stop flights to Belize from a number of destinations in Central America, including Panama City (Panama), San Salvador (El Salvador), and Roatan (Honduras). As mentioned earlier, there are also multiple flights from cities in Mexico and Guatemala to Belize.
Please note that all international flights, regardless of distance traveled, land at the Philip Goldson International Airport (code: BZE) just north of BelizeCity.
