Belize a Top Luxury Honeymoon Destination
Belize, and more specifically the town of San Pedro on the island of Ambergris Caye and the nearby island of Cayo Espanto, was recently declared one of the top 22 best luxury honeymoon destinations by Flight Network magazine. Specializing in providing global travelers with comprehensive destination information and travel services, Flight Network magazine is the media arm of Flight Network, the largest Canadian-owned online travel agency in the world. First founded in 2005, Flight Network now has more than 350 employees and is the second most visited travel site in Canada after Expedia.
Flight Network lavished praise on San Pedro, calling it a "slice of paradise" facing the Caribbean Sea and a "world treasure" in justifying its ranking as the number five destination for luxury honeymoons. Erroneously referring to the nearby Belize Barrier Reef as the "Pedro" reef while using a photograph of a different location in Belize (actually Lighthouse Reef), the Flight Network recommended that readers enjoy the world-class snorkeling and scuba diving available in the area.
The Flight Network article also extolled the virtues of "kicking back under a palm" while exploring San Pedro, the island's capital that inspired Madonna's smash 1986 hit "La Isla Bonita." The Flight Network article also recommended visiting the mainland to explore one of the hundreds of ancient Maya ruins, including Altun Ha, Santa Rita, and Lamanai.
Included in the Flight Network article was a recommendation to visit the "breathtaking and intimate" Cayo Espanto. Located just three miles from San Pedro is the tiny island of Cayo Espanto, home to a world-class luxury resort that is favored by Hollywood celebrities and members of the Trump family. The Flight Network article extolled the quality of the linens, oversized robes, and customized culinary service provided at the resort. Flight Network saved their highest praise for the private butler service provided to each guest, concluding that the resort's guest experience was so good that visitors will "never want to leave."
"Once again, we are truly happy to see an increased awareness of the wonders of vacationing in Belize," said Rhoda Gill, marketing manager at Adventures in Belize. "We warmly welcome Flight Magazine's Canadian readers to come visit Belize to see for themselves all of the wonderful destinations mentioned in the article."
