Condé Nast Traveler: Belize Is Best Place to Visit in 2019
Legendary luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler has now selected Belize as one of the best places to visit in 2019, a rare honor. After carefully considering thousands of high-end destinations, only a handful of countries, including Belize, were given the seal of approval from Condé Nast Traveler for travel in the upcoming year.
A flurry of high-end resorts which are scheduled to open soon or have already opened received high praise from Condé Nast Traveler, including a private island eco-resort called Blackadore Caye which is owned by Leonardo Di Caprio and a luxury resort called Gladden Private Island, the second property to be managed by legendary Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola. And Condé Nast Traveler has nothing but good words to say about the scheduled 2020 opening of Alaia Belize from Hilton and a 2021 scheduled opening for a brand-new Four Seasons hotel on the island of Caye Chapel.
But it’s not just all of the glamorous hotels and lodges which motivated Condé Nast Traveler to include Belize on its list of the best places to visit in 2019. The magazine rightly noted the wide variety of activities available in Belize, including fly-fishing, exploring caves, and visiting some of the 600 ancient Maya temples, pyramids, and ball courts that are found throughout the country. Other top attractions include bird watching, kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining, and cave tubing, the latter involving using an inner tube to float for miles inside caves with rivers flowing through them.
And it certainly helped Belize’s case that it is now well-positioned as the less crowded, more pristine alternative to Mexico’s overbuilt Yucatan Peninsula located just a short drive up the coast. And Condé Nast Traveler noted that Belize has a unique melting pot society that has resulted in a multicultural English-speaking population renowned for their friendliness and hospitality.
Condé Nast Traveler isn’t the only premiere travel publication which has selected Belize as a must-see destination in 2019. In their yearly round-ups lists, both National Geographic Traveler and Lonely Planet also included Belize, putting the tiny country in elite territory as a universal favorite amongst travel experts.
