Air Canada to Start Flying to Belize in December
On May 3, 2017, Air Canada announced that it will be adding six new international routes, including a Toronto to Belize City non-stop flight. The new Canada-Belize route will begin operation on December 15, 2017, and will continue to April 13, 2018. The Toronto-Belize City route will be operated weekly using an Airbus A319 "Rouge" aircraft with 14 seats in Business class, 36 seats in Preferred Seating class, and 96 seats in Economy class. The Airbus A319 "Rouge" aircraft used on the Canada-Belize route includes on-demand in-seat audio and video services and power ports throughout the aircraft.
The Air Canada announcement comes on the heels of competitor WestJet Airlines operating the first non-stop Canada-Belize flights from Toronto's Pearson International Airport to the Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City beginning in October 2016. Travel demand for the hot Belize market has been steadily increasing year-over-year for the past five years. The new Air Canada route is expected to drive down prices, making it easier and more affordable than ever for Canadians to travel to Belize. All the major airlines in the United States, including United, Delta, Southwest, and American Airlines offer non-stop flights to Belize from major cities across the country.
