Visit an ancient Maya temple –

The International Costa Maya Festival –

Every August, the town of San Pedro on the island of Ambergris Caye hosts the International Costa Maya Festival. Part celebration of Maya heritage, part street party, the three-day event includes a beauty pageant, parades, vendors selling handicrafts and art, live music from big name bands, and tons of fun for the whole family.

Hike a nature reserve –

Belize is famous for its ecodiversity, a land where five different big cat species (including jaguars) roam ancient rainforests and more than 500 species of birds have been spotted. No matter where you go, you will be astonished by the colors and diversity of the plants and animals in Belize.

Go snorkeling and/or scuba diving –

Belize is home to the Belize Barrier Reef, a vast archipelago of coral atolls and gorgeous tropical islands that are subdivided into seven different nature reserves and national parks. The crystal clear waters of the reef are ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving, including famous locales like the Belize Blue Hole, Shark Ray Alley, and the Hol Chan “cut”.

Tour the Caves Branch Botanical Gardens

– The national flower of Belize is the black orchid, and Belize is home to hundreds of different orchid species. The Botanical Gardens of the Caves Branch Lodge have the country’s biggest collection of orchids along with hundreds of other flowering plants.
